Applications for the 2025/2026 academic year at the National Defence Academy (NDAL) are now closed. Thank you to everyone for your interest and for submitting applications by August 10. The NDAL is now selecting candidates and assessing their eligibility to begin on September 1st. Candidates will be informed of the selection results individually.

STUDY TOGETHER FOR THE SECURITY OF LATVIA
"Black Coffee Evening"
November 30, from 6:00 p.m., National Defence Academy parade ground.
During the event, 14 cadets who fell in the Freedom Fights will be honored. The evening will begin with a solemn roll call. During roll call, the names of the 14 fallen cadets will be announced, and torches will be lit next to their photographs, honoring the 1919 Freedom Fights. Following the roll call, the National Defence Academy’s most outstanding graduate of the previous year will receive the Honorary Sword of General Mārtiņš Hartmanis, Knight of the Order of Lāčplēsis. Diāna Jance, a representative of the Hartmanis family, will present the sword. After the formal ceremony, attendees will be invited to an informal "Black Coffee Evening" feast. During the feast, speeches will be given and soldiers' songs sung. The event will be attended by the President of Latvia, the Minister of Defence, the Commander of the National Armed Forces, commanders of regular forces units, the Latvian Generals' Club, the Latvian Officers' Association, National Defence Academy cadets, and students from Pļaviņu Secondary School and Colonel Oskars Kalpaks Secondary School.

Junior Leader Course "Four Winds"
December 11, various locations in Latvia.
The aim of the course is to develop cadet candidates' understanding of the role and importance of military leadership in a military unit in order to lead and maintain its combat capabilities.
Field trips:
• The site of the battle fought by Latvian national partisans on March 2-3, 1945, in the Stompaku swamp, Viļaka district, Susāju parish;
• The family home of Colonel Oskars Kalpaks, commander of the Latvian Provisional Government's armed forces, "Liepsalas," and O. Kalpaks' burial place in Ošupe and Indrānu parishes, Madona district;
• The National Resistance Movement Museum in Renda, Kuldīga District, and the Rubenis Battalion Museum in Ugāle, Ventspils District;
• The Mine Countermeasure Squadron, the Sea Surveillance and Communication Service in Liepāja, and the Latvian Navy Training Center in Liepāja Karosta.
